OUR STORY

According to sean

In the Fall of 2016, I first heard of Carly from my good friend Troy, who mentioned a co-worker of his now wife Kerry that was looking for a “good guy” and that we might be a good match.  After a few months of building up the hype on both sides by Troy and Kerry, Carly reluctantly agreed to show up to a Hawaiian dress-themed Christmas party hosted by the Bachelors of San Francisco.  At our first date, she did a great job of laughing at all my jokes and I was immediately drawn to her caring personality while also being easy on the eyes.

We became an “official” couple in the Spring 2017 and in the coming months met each others family and friends.  Tracy nicely vetted me in San Francisco before meeting Brian in Mexico for a family vacation. Later in the year, Carly trekked out to Spain with me to meet my parents living abroad.  Over the next few years we built close relationships across each others family and friends, which continued to bring us together.

In December 2019, we took the step of moving in together which we both viewed as a serious commitment to building a life together.  If we only knew what that would mean a few months later…2020 proved to be a testing year for our relationship.  The unprecedented experiences of the year allowed us to establish a true foundation for our relationship. We also had the fortunate opportunity to spend the spring and summer with Carly’s family in Seattle.  It allowed me to build relationships with her family that would have taken years without our daily quarantine interactions.

We kicked off the new year in 2021 by adding a rambunctious, sweet red fox lab to our “family”. We named him Rafi, after one of our favorite wines, Rafanelli, and he has added lots of playtime and joy to our lives.

In March 2021, I took Carly (and Rafi) up to our favorite weekend escape hotel on the Sonoma coast.  The day I proposed was the most nervous I’ve been in my life.  Between what to say, photography logics, flowers, surprise-engagement party to follow, I was certainly feeling the pressure.  While most of the proposal was a blur, I took the look of her expression and Carly taking the ring out of hand to put on her hand as a good sign.

We now look forward to sharing the experience of committing ourselves to marriage, and hope you will be there to experience the day with us!
